Friday, July 12… I was ready to go! Too bad Arootsakoostik wasn’t until Saturday. D’oh!

Saturday, July 13… We’re off! Jenna Beaulieu, over at UpCountry Living, scooped me around 11am to head to New Sweden, Maine. I don’t think many of my stories involve any one but her… Moving along! We arrived in b-e-a-u-ti-ful New Sweden and at the lush Thomas Park around noon-thirty and headed over to the stage to hear Jacob Augustine‘s last couple songs.

After Jacob’s set, Jenna and I ventured off into the park to see what we could find. There were records hanging from tree branches; paintings, posters, and crushed-velvet art were all nailed to trees; and trails that lead to amazing views. I am horrid with names, but we encountered many, many interesting individuals. A man told us of an apple orchard we should check out, a couple that lives in a tin trailer, and people from down east up visiting.

After grabbing food from The Whole Potato Cafe, we sat on the lawn to enjoy the tunes and get our grub on. “Sticky” does not even begin to describe how we felt by this point. I thought Houston was muggy- this place is bonkers! Inevitably, I was bitten by every female fly in the northern woods. That’s a whole different story… We tried local organic (iced) coffee,

We ventured back out to the trails and stumbled upon the most angelic of voices. Mister Moon was playing at the Earthcraft stage in the middle of the woods and their voices echoed hauntingly through the trees, drawing Jenna and I in for a closer listen.

We returned from the woods for some KTC Brain Freeze and more music. Tumbling Bones took to the stage, as well as The John Clavette Band and Dark Hollow Bottling Company. All of which are amazing and worthy of checking out. Just click the link to do so!

Without further ado…
