US Army – Inspired Maternity Session
While doing my usual morning routine of coffee and emails, I came across a very timid and shy-sounding email from a US military wife. She wanted something special for her husband who was deployed. Whether or not he would be home in time for the birth of his first son, Carson Pete, was still up in the air and I could tell this worried her a bit. I shot her an email back, inviting her into my professional photography studio here in Madawaska, Me.
I told her I would have it warm enough for her to expose her belly without catching a chill, so I started a fire. Funny story… you should never walk away from a fire you’re still kindling to start. I smoked out the entire place! Oh… no… I quickly executed a smoke evacuation plan- I opened all the windows in there and turned every fan I had on to push the smoke out. It was awful. I had to call the client and tell her we needed to wait, or reschedule.
After the smoke cleared, the windows were closed, and the fire was roaring, she arrived. Absolutely glowing! She looked gorgeous just the way she was. We created a few belly shots just for Dad, a couple boudoir-inspired maternity shots, and some beauty shots of our glowing new Mother. We used Dad’s US Army jacket to create a couple of the images and even incorporated Dad’s favorite NASCAR driver 48!
